Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis Adopts RNG with Waga Energy

The Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis has partnered with Waga Energy to convert landfill gas to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) at the Arbois Landfill in Aix-en-Provence. This initiative includes the construction of a renewable gas production unit powered by a 1 MWp photovoltaic plant, both managed by Waga Energy.

Leveraging Waga Energy's WAGABOX® technology, the unit will produce RNG equivalent to the consumption needs of 9,000 households, reducing CO2 emissions by 15,000 tons annually. The generated RNG will be injected into the local pipeline and sold to an energy utility, with revenues shared with the Metropolis.

Starting in March 2025, Waga Energy will oversee the landfill's gas collection network, enhancing energy output and supplying locally-produced renewable energy.
