Alibaba Cloud and OBS Unveil AI-Powered OBS Cloud 3.0 for Paris 2024

Alibaba Cloud and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) have launched OBS Cloud 3.0 ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This innovative platform integrates AI-fueled cloud technology to enhance broadcasting capabilities, offering operational scalability, improved sustainability, and real-time workflow collaboration. OBS Live Cloud will be the primary remote distribution method, marking a significant shift from satellite-based transmission.

For Paris 2024, OBS Live Cloud will transmit 379 video feeds, including 11 in Ultra High Definition (UHD), and 100 audio feeds across 54 broadcasters. This cloud-based distribution ensures low latency, high resilience, and cost-efficiency. OBS Live Cloud was first introduced at Tokyo 2020 before becoming a standard service during Beijing 2022.

Content+, OBS’s content delivery platform, will produce over 11,000 hours of content for Paris 2024, a 15% increase from Tokyo 2020. The platform offers seamless content delivery and new functionalities, allowing Media Rights-Holders to create highlights from any location globally. Content+ will deliver content in UHD for the first time, enhancing viewer engagement with features like vertical screen compatibility.

Additionally, OBS Multi-Camera Replay Systems, powered by Alibaba Cloud, will provide frame-freeze slow-motion replays, capturing athletes' performances in detail. This technology utilizes AI-driven computing for real-time 3D rendering. These systems will cover 14 venues, offering detailed analysis and educational tools for viewers.

Alibaba Cloud's role as an Olympic Worldwide Partner since 2017 underscores its commitment to transforming the viewer experience through technology. Selina Yuan, President of International Business at Alibaba Cloud, emphasized the company's excitement about enhancing the digital experience for Paris 2024.
