Ascendant Resources Approved for EU Sponsored Cutting-Edge Geophysical "Undercover" Program at Its Lagoa Salgada Project

TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / September 30, 2024 / Ascendant Resources Inc. (TSX:ASND) announces its award of EU funding through participation in the UNDERCOVER project. This initiative aims to enhance mineral exploration using advanced geophysical technologies to uncover hidden deposits at significant depths. The Lagoa Salgada Project, located on Portugal's Iberian Pyrite Belt, has been selected for this innovative program.

The EU-sponsored UNDERCOVER Project, set to begin in Q1 2025, will employ various advanced geophysical methods, including Seismic Reflection and Refraction, Magnetotellurics, Gravity and Magnetic Surveys, Electromagnetic Surveys, and Joint Inversion Techniques. These methods aim to identify potential deposits of minerals such as zinc, copper, lead, tin, silver, and gold at greater depths than conventional techniques can achieve.

Ascendant's Executive Chairman, Mark Brennan, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting the company's commitment to innovation in mineral exploration. The project is expected to run for 36 months, with the first two years focusing on key sites including Lagoa Salgada. This project is fully funded by the EU under its Horizon Europe program, underscoring the initiative's importance in promoting sustainable mining practices.
