AT&S Announces Sale of South Korean Plant to SO.MA.CI.S. S.p.A.
On September 23, 2024, AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik AG and SO.MA.CI.S. S.p.A. signed an agreement for the sale of AT&S Korea CO., LTD. The purchase price amounts to approximately EUR 405 million. This marks a major step in sharpening AT&S's strategic profile, according to CFO Petra Preining.
The Ansan plant, acquired by AT&S in 2006, has seen significant growth and development. CEO Andreas Gerstenmayer noted that revenues have quadrupled since the acquisition, thanks to new applications and strong investments.
The plant specializes in flexible circuit boards for electronic systems. Peter Schneider, EVP at AT&S, emphasized the importance of finding a buyer who recognizes its potential. Giovanni Tridenti, CEO of Somacis, expressed excitement about the plant's future under their ownership.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be completed in the coming months.
