Aurubis Celebrates Opening of First U.S. Multimetal Recycling Plant
Aurubis AG has inaugurated its first multimetal recycling plant in the United States. The $800 million facility is located in Augusta, Georgia.
The plant is set to create over 230 high-quality jobs, bolstering economic stability in the region. It has the capacity to process more than 180,000 tons of complex recycling materials annually, including circuit boards and copper cables.
The project highlights Aurubis’ commitment to sustainability and innovation. Its metals support renewable energy, e-mobility, and battery recycling industries.
CEO Toralf Haag emphasized the importance of this new venture in keeping vital metals within the U.S. economy, making supply chains more independent.
The facility meets stringent environmental standards, aligning with Aurubis' goal of becoming carbon-neutral before 2050.
