Castle Connolly Recognizes Over 8,300 Exceptional Women in Medicine for 2024

Castle Connolly has officially announced its 2024 Exceptional Women in Medicine, honoring more than 8,300 doctors across 77 specialties in all 50 states. This recognition celebrates women in the medical field who exhibit outstanding leadership, expertise, and dedication. The selection process entails peer nominations, research, and evaluation, highlighting those with significant contributions in research, academics, healthcare volunteer work, top institution training, and specialty innovations.

Despite the ongoing challenges of gender disparity in medicine, the list aims to inspire more women to join and achieve in the medical profession. Steve Leibforth, Managing Director at Castle Connolly, emphasized the importance of acknowledging and elevating these women's achievements, hoping to close the gender gap in historically male-dominated areas and leadership roles within the field.

Female physicians like Dr. Arisa Ortiz and Dr. Lynn Model share their views on the unique perspectives women bring to medicine, stressing on empathy and diversity's crucial role in patient care. This initiative aligns with Castle Connolly's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Initiative, aiming to honor top clinicians and aid patients in finding doctors with shared experiences. The company plans to release further recognitions throughout 2024, including lists for Top Black Doctors, Top Asian American & Pacific Islander Doctors, Top LGBTQ+ Doctors, and Top Hispanic & Latino Doctors.
