Ernie Els Captures First Senior Major Championship at Kaulig Companies Championship

XXIO Global Ambassador Ernie Els secured his third victory of the season at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. The South African golfer emerged victorious at the Kaulig Companies Championship, marking his first major win on the PGA TOUR Champions.

Playing outstanding golf at age 54, Els shot even par in the opening round, then made a significant move with a 64 on Saturday. He finished with a 68 on Sunday, completing the tournament at 10-under and edging out his opponents by one stroke. This win is his third this season and sixth overall on the tour. Els is the first PGA TOUR Champions player to achieve three victories this season.

Having competed at Firestone Country Club many times, Els expressed relief and satisfaction with his win. He utilized a combination of XXIO, Srixon Irons, and Cleveland Golf Wedges, showcasing impressive consistency. Els hit over 76% of greens in regulation for the week, ranking fifth in this category for the season.

This victory places Els at the top of the Schwab Cup standings and secures him a spot in next year's THE PLAYERS Championship. He now heads to Royal Troon for the final major championship of the men's season, where he has previously won twice.
