General Atomics Partners with Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation to Accelerate Nuclear Technology Development

General Atomics (GA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), striving to advance nuclear energy technologies in the UAE. Announced during the CERAWeek Conference in Houston, Texas, this collaboration focuses on investigating opportunities that could support the UAE's nuclear energy programs. The partnership highlights strategic discussions on utilizing GA-EMS' innovative SiGA® cladding and exploring Fast Modular Nuclear Reactor designs.

The SiGA® silicon carbide cladding, noted for its ability to enhance the safety and affordability of light water reactors, also plays a crucial role in the development of advanced reactors, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) that promise higher efficiency in electricity production. Through this agreement, GA and ENEC aim to fast-track the deployment of advanced fuels and modular reactor designs, aligning with the UAE's commitment to innovative, clean energy solutions.

His Excellency Mohamed Al Hammadi of ENEC expressed enthusiasm for international partnerships that drive innovation in clean energy, highlighting the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant as a testament to the UAE's dedication to collaborative technological advancement for achieving Net Zero targets. Scott Forney of GA-EMS echoed the sentiment, citing ENEC's excellence in developing high-standard nuclear programs as a foundation for successful collaboration.
