Helrom Expands Rail Network with Düsseldorf — Budapest

With the expansion of its route network to include the Düsseldorf — Budapest connection, Helrom now offers a greater range for sustainable and barrier-free intermodal freight transport in Europe. The new route allows shippers and freight forwarders to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90% while using a reliable and efficient transport solution.

The connection operates as an open train, where fixed contingents can be booked as needed. Terminal-free loading offers small and medium-sized companies an easy way to shift truck trailers to rail without additional investments. Helrom ensures reliable and punctual delivery for every transport.

The route, operational from October 2, spans 1,200 kilometers. Freight forwarders can deliver trailers until late evening, ready for collection the morning after next. Daily departures are planned six days a week. Each train transports 36 trailers, corresponding to a weekly capacity of 432 trailers. The catchment areas include Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, the Ruhr region, Benelux, and Great Britain.

Helrom's trailer transports achieve service quality and punctuality comparable to road transport, ideal for time-critical shipments like food and automotive components. This offers a flexible, cost-effective solution for sustainable transport.

Helrom continues its mission for CO₂-neutral freight transport. The new route promotes socially responsible working conditions, allowing freight forwarders to focus on short-haul routes.
