Lonza Announces CEO Transition with Wolfgang Wienand Taking the Helm in Summer 2024

Lonza Group AG has announced the appointment of Wolfgang Wienand as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), starting in the summer of 2024. Wienand, the current CEO of Siegfried Holding AG, will be taking over from Albert M. Baehny, who has served as CEO on an ad interim basis since October 2023.

Wienand brings extensive experience in the contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) sector, along with a strong track record from his time at Siegfried Holding AG and previous roles at Evonik Industries. His appointment is part of a structured transition plan, with Baehny remaining at Lonza for a period to ensure a smooth handover before his retirement.

Albert M. Baehny and Christoph Mäder, reflecting on the transition, emphasized Wienand's industry expertise and leadership qualities. They expressed confidence in his capability to drive Lonza's growth and innovation in the pharmaceutical development and manufacturing sector.
