Nexans Invests 15 Million Euros in Bourg-en-Bresse Plant for Low-Carbon Cable Production
Nexans will invest 15 million euros in its Bourg-en-Bresse plant to boost the production of low-carbon medium-voltage cables. This move aims to meet the rising electrification demands in France and Western Europe. Two new production lines will be installed, and the entire manufacturing flow will be modernized between H1 2025 and H1 2026.
The investment will notably involve a new stranding machine for larger aluminum cable sections and a state-of-the-art XLPE triple extruder, set to be operational by H1 2026. Nexans will also enhance its EDRMAX® cable production, which simplifies installation and reduces the system's carbon footprint.
Furthermore, digital tools will be incorporated to improve process control and employee experience, transforming the plant into a 4.0 digital factory aimed at sustainable, local production. Nexans continues to position itself as a key partner in Europe's energy transition.
