Ondine Biomedical Inc Introduces Steriwave Technology in Australia

Ondine Biomedical Inc., a Canadian life sciences firm, announced that Mater Hospital in North Sydney has implemented Steriwave® technology, marking its debut in Australia. This innovative light-activated antimicrobial treatment aims to prevent the spread of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).

Professor Frances Boyle AM highlighted the significance of the technology for patients, especially those weak and immunocompromised, by providing a rapid, non-antibiotic method for nasal decolonization. This initiative at Mater Hospital, a part of St. Vincent's Health Australia Group, represents a significant step in leveraging medical technology to enhance patient safety.

In a related event, Dr. John Street presented research at the 35th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Spine Society of Australia, showing a significant reduction in surgical site infections and cost savings when using Steriwave in pre-surgical procedures at Vancouver General Hospital.
