ONWARD Medical obtains exclusive rights to WIMAGINE BCI technology
ONWARD Medical, a company specializing in medical technologies to treat spinal cord injuries, announces the acquisition of exclusive rights to the WIMAGINE brain-machine interface technology, developed by Clinatec and CEA. This advancement allows ONWARD to integrate WIMAGINE into its ARC-BCI system, designed to restore thought-guided movements.
The WIMAGINE BCI is backed by seven years of human clinical data, giving ONWARD a unique opportunity to pioneer this market. The ARC-BCI system fuses this technology with ARC-IM therapy, aiming to create a “digital bridge” that enables movement in paralyzed patients.
Ongoing research, supported in particular by the European Innovation Council, demonstrates the promising potential of this experimental technology. The first applications have already shown encouraging results in patients implanted with this system.
