Operation Storybook: A Dogs on Deployment Initiative to Support Military Families

Dogs on Deployment, a non-profit organization, has initiated Operation Storybook to address the increasing costs of pet relocation affecting military families. This campaign, launched in the Month of the Military Child, seeks to offer support and raise awareness through storytelling, featuring the children's book "Sometimes Love" by Katrina Moore. The book highlights the emotional hardships military families face, emphasizing the importance of pets in their lives.

Operation Storybook responds to the growing financial burden of pet travel costs post-pandemic, with limited transportation options for pets on military flights. This challenge has significantly impacted military families, especially those moving overseas. To date, Dogs on Deployment has provided over $543,560 in financial aid for pet relocation and fostered more than 6,789 military pets.

The campaign aims to increase awareness about pet boarding and relocation challenges, foster empathy through the story "Sometimes Love," and raise funds to continue supporting military families in their pet boarding and relocation needs. A donation of $40 or more gifts contributors the book as a token of appreciation, directly aiding in Dogs on Deployment's mission.
