SGS Expands Flammability Testing Services Across Aviation, Automotive and Maritime Sectors

SGS has announced an expansion of its fire safety, resistance, and flammability testing services, enhancing its laboratory offerings in Farmingdale, New York. Focused on aiding the aviation, automotive, and maritime industries, this expansion comes with a suite of newly approved testing methodologies overseen by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and adherence to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation standards.

Bobby Brown, a key representative of SGS, emphasized the company's commitment to leveraging advanced technology and methodology enhancements. This strategic enhancement is part of SGS's ongoing efforts to solidify its status as a leading fire safety testing provider since acquiring Govmark Testing Services in 2017.

The expansion includes comprehensive testing capabilities from non-combustibility and smoke toxicity measurements to the flammability of upholstered furniture and airplane interior components. SGS assures compliance with USCG and International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations through adherence to the International Code for Application of Fire Test Procedures (FTP). Furthermore, the service extension also covers testing for building materials, furnishings, as well as wire and cable products, aligning with both domestic and international safety standards.

Effective January 2024, SGS's broadened scope positions the company to better meet the increasing safety demands of its global clientele, offering accredited testing services that adhere to stringent national and international standards across several crucial industry sectors.
