Solar Power Initiative at Gerresheimer's Belgium Site

Gerresheimer AG has implemented a 2.3 MWp rooftop photovoltaic system at its Momignies, Belgium site. This initiative aims to elevate the share of green electricity in its energy consumption as part of its corporate strategy aiming for 100% renewable energy by 2030.

The new solar installation will generate approximately 2,100 MWh of electricity yearly, significantly lowering CO2 emissions by roughly 300 tons. The generated power will predominantly be consumed on-site, which aligns with Gerresheimer's objective to progressively amplify renewable energy use across its operations.

The Momignies facility specializes in producing glass packaging for the cosmetics industry and already includes up to 40% post-consumer recycled glass in its production. Advancing these sustainability efforts, Gerresheimer aims to increase the renewable energy share at this energy-intensive site to around 25% by the end of 2024.
