Sunrise Doubles Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial Network Speed

Sunrise UPC GmbH has announced that it is more than doubling the speed of its hybrid fibre-coaxial cable network. This upgrade will see speeds increase from 1 Gbit/s to 2.5 Gbit/s, starting in August 2024.

The company states that around 80% of Swiss households connected via this network will benefit from the speed upgrade at no additional cost. This initiative comes in response to a 30% increase in internet usage over the past two years.

Sunrise remains the only provider offering broadband speeds over 1 Gbit/s to more than 95% of Swiss households, including rural areas which are typically underserved. This upgrade reinforces Sunrise's competitive edge in the market.

CEO André Krause highlighted that this enhancement improves customer experience without increasing subscription fees, strengthening Sunrise's commitment to customer loyalty and digital development.
