Swiss Re Introduces AI-Enhanced Underwriting Assistant in Life Guide

Swiss Re announced the launch of an enhanced version of their Life & Health underwriting manual, Life Guide, now equipped with a generative AI feature named Swiss Re Life Guide Scout. This new addition, powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service, aims to refine the efficiency and accuracy of the underwriting processes.

The introduction of Swiss Re Life Guide Scout is designed to expedite the response time to underwriters' queries, allowing them to access expert advice and source-verified information nearly instantly. This enhancement seeks to streamline risk assessments and facilitate more informed decision-making, thus fostering more precise underwriting judgments.

According to Julien Descombes, Swiss Re’s Chief Underwriting Officer L&H Re, this advancement will assist insurers by making the underwriting process both highly efficient and user-friendly. Simultaneously, Catrin Hinkel, CEO of Microsoft Switzerland, emphasized that the integration of advanced analytics and Generative AI through Microsoft Azure provides a secure and reliable platform for Swiss Re to elevate their service offerings in the insurance market.

This AI-enhanced version of Life Guide, initially released as a pilot in English, is set to be rolled out more broadly later in the year as mentioned by Swiss Re.
