Syngenta Opens Rights to Genome-Editing and Breeding Technologies to Boost Agricultural Innovation

Syngenta Group will offer rights to select genome-editing and breeding technologies for academic research globally. This initiative is part of its effort to enhance innovation and sustain agriculture. The technologies are accessible through the Shoots by Syngenta platform.

The rights pertain to optimized CRISPR-Cas12a and gene-editing breeding tools. CRISPR technology allows for improved plant traits without incorporating DNA from different species, doing so more efficiently than through natural or conventional methods.

Gusui Wu, Head of Global Seeds Research at Syngenta, highlighted the transformative potential of CRISPR in agriculture. Syngenta scientists have advanced CRISPR Cas12a to boost its efficiency and utility for crop improvement.

Syngenta has a history of sharing technology with public and private entities, making access straightforward and quick for academic use. The Shoots by Syngenta platform encourages collaboration to address complex agricultural challenges.

For additional information on available technologies and the licensing process, visit the Shoots by Syngenta website.
