X-FAB and Soitec partner to bring SmartSiC™ technology to the United States

X-FAB and Soitec announced their collaboration to provide SmartSiC™ technology to the X-FAB plant in Lubbock, Texas. This partnership will provide X-FAB's fabless customers with access to silicon carbide (SiC) power devices.

During the evaluation phase, SmartSiC™ wafers from Soitec were used to fabricate SiC devices. Soitec will facilitate access to this technology through a consignment supply model. SmartSiC™ technology, based on the SmartCut™ process, improves the performance of power devices while reducing costs and CO2 emissions.

Soitec and X-FAB are respectively increasing their production capacities for SmartSiC™ and SiC devices. This alliance will help meet growing demand in the areas of electric vehicles, renewable energies and industrial applications.
