Eiffage wins in consortium the contract to extend and restructure  the Henri Becquerel cancer treatment centre in Rouen (France)

in a deal worth €72 million

Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Construction, in a consortium with Fouchard and Sner, won the contract to extend and restructure the Centre Henri Becquerel in Rouen, one of 18 specialist cancer treatment centres across France. The contract is worth a total €72 million, of which Eiffage share is €50 million.

This project covers the construction of a new 14,100 m² five-storey building, along with a curved three-storey link building connecting it to the existing complex, which itself will be renovated and extended. This work will create a total 16,700 m² of floor area, along with parking spaces. Landscaped areas will be created.

The project was designed by the architecture studio Group-6 with support from Ingerop, Atelier des Deux Anges and ARP Astrance. The architectural approach was to create a curved building that hugs the natural contours of the site. Conceived as a ring around a central hub, the various departments are organised to optimise the patient experience. The building’s large windows will place the emphasis on transparency and brightness.

In terms of environmental and energy performance, the building will satisfy ambitious requirements: reusing materials with limited environmental impact; glazed surfaces incorporating bioclimatic management features; rainwater management; connection to the local urban heat network… 

Eiffage Construction will be responsible for the building works on a general contracting basis, with support from Fouchard and Sner on the technical works packages. Works started recently with a view to delivery in 2026. The site will remain occupied throughout the construction period to ensure uninterrupted patient care.
