- Sunrise is publishing its first comprehensive sustainability report today.
- The Sunrise sustainability strategy is founded on four pillars: People, Planet, Progress and Governance. Within these pillars, 15 key areas for action have been defined.
- The report was produced in line with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and underscores the Sunrise dedication to increased transparency and commitment to sustainability.
«We’re proud of the sustainability successes that our efforts in all business areas have already brought us. It’s especially important to bear in mind that our employees are all with us on this journey, since we’ve integrated our sustainability ambitions into our bonus-related corporate goals and we’re improving the organisation holistically. This first comprehensive Sunrise sustainability report now makes it clear also to the wider community just how dedicated we are and increases our commitment to our sustainability agenda,» says André Krause, CEO of Sunrise.
As an integral part of its corporate strategy, Sunrise implements sustainable measures within its daily business activities. Its sustainability strategy, Sunrise IMPACTS, is based on the pillars of People, Planet and Progress, with the pillar of Governance as the foundation. With goals such as high employee commitment, significant reduction in emissions and increased digitisation, Sunrise is striving towards a more sustainable future.
Highlights of the past year include initiatives that enabled Sunrise to meet both customer requirements and sustainability demands, such as sustainable product design and recycling programmes (Sunrise Buyback) and offers to promote the circular economy (Sunrise Flex Upgrade).
For the community in general, among other items, Sunrise expanded its project to promote digital education for low-income households and introduced discounted mobile, Internet and TV subscriptions (digital access for all).
For its employees Sunrise focuses on offering both professional and personal development opportunities and on an appreciative, inclusive working environment. In addition, a volunteering programme has been designed and implemented, encouraging employees to contribute to the community and at the same time strengthening teamwork.
The company’s heightened focus on the environment is emphasised by its recent ISO 14001 environmental certification and has also led to improvements in the results of external assessments of climate performance by the Carbon Disclosure Project.
Sunrise was recently awarded a platinum medal by EcoVadis, a global leader in corporate sustainability assessments. With 81 points, Sunrise now ranks as one of the leading group among sustainable corporations, a group which includes only the top 1% of globally rated companies.
